Name: Howard Kramer Age: 19 Social Class: Townsfolk Birthday:November 18th Family: Mother and Father, 2 younger brothers Preferred Element: Fire Kramer's family did what they could to survive, working oddjobs wherever and whenever they could be found to scrape by enough to live by. His father insisted that all they ever needed was a roof over their heads, and food on the table, but everyone knew that he was fairly bitter at being the only one of his siblings who did not make it through Everthorne, in fact he didn't even pass the aptitude test to attend. He was soon disowned by his father, Kramer's Grandfather, and kicked out of their large mansion to live on his own. Kramer and his younger brothers were raised under his father's harsh discipline. Act up, and their rear would be sore for a week. Talk back and it'd be two. When Kramer's 19th birthday came around, his father looked upon it as Kramer's golden ticket to a better life. Kramer, however, did not see it the same way. Kramer has met his Grandfather, aunts, and uncles just enough times to have a deep scorn and hatred for them. He and the rest of his family have always been treated as third class citizens and looked down upon for not having the "gift." They were seen only as the runts of the family. Kramer saw this, and could not understand how family could treat one another this way. He concluded that becoming a mage was not something that he wanted to do. If he had a choice to skip the testing, he would do so in a heartbeat. The night before the testers were to arrive, Kramer came up with a brilliant plan. He would purposefully botch the test. He didn't even know how the test worked, but he was sure that he could fake out the testers and convince them that he had no magical talents. When the testers came, he was sure that he would find a way to fail their tests. Unfortunately, before he knew what was happening, the testers concluded that he did in fact have the capability to learn magic. He would be sent to Everthorne to learn, and possibly become a mage. Kramer's father was well aware of his son's dislike of the mage class, and his unrelenting wish to stay where he is in life. The night before Kramer was to leave for Everthorne, his father came into his room, sat next to him on his bed, stared him in the eyes, and stated one thing. "Son," he said, "If I find out, or have any reason to believe, that you return from that school and purposefully flunked out, I will beat you within an inch of your life." Kramer, unsure of just how serious his father was, decided it would be best not to risk it. After managing to pass Everthorne Academy and having been denied the choice to have his magic stripped from him anyway, it took Kramer almost a week to work up the courage to return home to his family. When he finally showed up, his younger brothers and his mother were out for the day. He took one look at his father and gave him a left hook right in the jaw. Without even saying a word, he went to his room and slammed the door shut. It wasn't long before his dad came up and the two had a real heart to heart. His dad apologized for the threats he had made before Kramer left for Everthorne, and Kramer apologized for the right hook upon his return. Kramer moved his family out to the plot of land he recieved from the King after his graduation, but his dad refused to let him use his new found wealth to make their lives better. It wasn't long after that Kramer moved out and purchased a small house in Reyse. He now spends most of his time at the tennis courts looking to join the professional tournaments. Kramer hasn't changed very much since his time at Everthorne. He still distrusts anyone of the noble classes, and despite the heart to heart with his father, the two of them don't get along at all like they used to, and the two haven't talked since he moved out. In his eyes, his father betrayed him just like his grandfather had betrayed his father. Kramer is not afraid to speak his mind, especially when it comes to how the upper class treats those below their standing. He doesn't care to make friends, work too hard at anything that ressembles work, or to show much respect for anyone, especially not the nobles. He holds a deep contempt to anyone of high social standing, despite his new found magedom, and refuses to allow himself to become "one of them." When it comes down to it, Kramer comes off as rude and ungrateful for the talent he possesses. He'll verbally abuse nobles, especially those who appear as if they look down on him or anyone else, and attempts to shut out anyone else who tries to get close. He tends to keep fairly subdued, and never gets very emotional about anything, but he will speak his mind when he deems it necessary. There is a nice guy somewhere inside of him, but at this point in his life he doesn't care enough for anyone to see it. He just wants out of the school and to go on with his life, hopefully without being beaten when it's all said and done. Kramer has dark brown hair, and is pretty average build. While unhappy, he isn't often seen with a frown, but more of an indifference to everything. At first glance he appears pretty boring and ordinary. Upon closer look, he is still boring and ordinary. he very much dislikes wearing formal clothes, and will do his best to dodge the precise dress code rules of Everthorne in order to at least make himself as comfortable as possible in the drab clothes they're forced to wear.
